THRC — Trauma Healing & Resilience Center by EMERGE (MENA)

Where THRC sits within EMERGE
THRC is EMERGE's founding affiliate.
THRC is EMERGE International's founding affiliate, governed under EMERGE's leadership while continuing to hold its own nonprofit status. Rather than operating as its own public-facing service platform, THRC's role is to strengthen the trauma-informed foundations behind EMERGE's counseling, child wellbeing, psychosocial support, training, and community recovery programs.
Who THRC's standards reach
Reaching the people delivering care on the ground.
Through EMERGE's programs, THRC's guidance and supervision reach the people delivering care on the ground: EMERGE's counselors and facilitators, the churches, NGOs, and schools EMERGE partners with, humanitarian and frontline teams, and caregivers and care teams across EMERGE's network.
Strengthening safer trauma-informed care across EMERGE.
THRC is EMERGE's specialized trauma healing and mental health resource center. It helps strengthen the quality, safety, supervision, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practices behind EMERGE's counseling, child wellbeing, training, psychosocial care, and community recovery programs across MENA. Rather than operating as a separate service platform, THRC helps embed the systems, guidance, and practice standards that strengthen safer care across the wider EMERGE ecosystem.
Why THRC exists
Across crisis-affected settings, many people providing emotional care are working under pressure, with limited supervision, inconsistent training, few referral options, and uneven trauma-informed guidance. Good intentions alone are not enough. Unsafe or poorly guided help can unintentionally increase harm — especially when working with trauma, grief, children, violence, displacement, abuse, or emotional distress.
THRC exists to help strengthen safer, more ethical, trauma-informed approaches to care. The goal is to ensure that help is:
- •Safer
- •Better guided
- •Ethically grounded
- •Culturally relevant
- •Connected to referral pathways
- •More sustainable over time
