Stories told through pictures.

A visual record of the people, places and partnerships behind EMERGE's work across the Middle East and North Africa. Every image and every film is shared with consent, with care, and with the communities who lived the story first.

Collection 01

Faces of resilience.

Behind every crisis statistic is a person, a family, and a story.

These portraits offer a glimpse into the lives of people—especially children—across the Middle East and North Africa who have been affected by conflict, displacement, loss, and hardship. They remind us that every number represents a human life, a unique story, and a future that matters.

At EMERGE, we believe people are never defined by what has happened to them. Every person possesses inherent dignity, value, and the capacity to heal. These images reflect that belief.

Children, holding hope.

A child cannot thrive on food alone.

While meeting physical needs such as food, shelter, clothing, and safety is essential, children also carry emotional wounds that often remain unseen. Fear, loss, uncertainty, and displacement can affect a child's wellbeing long after immediate needs have been met.

Through our Child Development & Family Support programs, EMERGE addresses both the physical and emotional needs of children. We provide practical support while also creating safe spaces, strengthening caregivers, and helping children recover, grow, and look toward the future with hope.

Communities in action.

When families face crisis, requests for help often reach EMERGE through governments, local communities, churches, schools, community leaders, and humanitarian organizations.

In response, we provide practical assistance such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, household essentials, school materials, seasonal support, and other forms of emergency relief that help individuals and families navigate difficult circumstances with dignity and care.

Training and Capacity Building.

One of the most effective ways to strengthen communities is to equip the people already serving within them.

EMERGE provides training, mentoring, and practical tools for counselors, caregivers, teachers, church leaders, humanitarian workers, and community practitioners across the region. To date, more than 2,800 leaders and practitioners have been equipped to provide support, care, and guidance within their own communities.

Training is not simply about transferring knowledge. It is about strengthening local capacity, multiplying care, and ensuring that communities have the people, skills, and resources needed to support their own recovery and wellbeing for years to come. As knowledge and experience are shared, communities become better equipped to respond to challenges, support vulnerable individuals and families, and build stronger systems of care.

These images reflect the ongoing investment in people who continue to make a difference long after a training program is complete.

Media & Awareness.

Not everyone can attend a training, join a support group, or access counseling services. Through media, EMERGE extends knowledge, encouragement, and hope to people wherever they are.

Using videos, podcasts, social media, and digital resources, we address topics such as mental health, trauma, parenting, relationships, wellbeing, and recovery. By increasing awareness and reducing stigma, media becomes another pathway to support and healing.

Over the years, EMERGE's media programs have generated more than 36 million views across 20 countries, helping ensure that trusted, culturally relevant resources are available to those who need them most.

Counseling & Therapy

Life's challenges can leave lasting emotional, relational, and psychological impacts. No one should have to face them alone.

Through the EMERGE Trauma Counseling & Therapy Center, children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families can access professional counseling and therapy services both online and in person. Our team supports individuals facing trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, family challenges, displacement, and other life difficulties.

On consent and dignity

Every face on this page chose to be here.

EMERGE follows strict safeguarding protocols on photography and film. No image is published without informed consent. Where consent is given to a context but not to a name, names are withheld. Where children appear, parental or legal consent is on record and faces may be obscured at the family's request.

Walk the journey with us.

Pictures and films open the door. Continuing the work is what keeps it open. Your support helps EMERGE stay with people long after the cameras leave.
